UCL: Legal vs Political Protection of Human Rights Panel

You are invited to the first 2009 Question Panel and official UCLSHRP website launch event! Never has it been so important to consider this fundamental question on the best means that British democracy can muster in protecting our liberties and freedoms. The working title for the panel debate is “Parliament and not the courts, is the principle defender of human rights.” Confirmed speakers at the event include:
- Professor Richard Bellamy, Director of the Department of Political Science, School of Public Policy, UCL
- Dr Saladin Meckled-García, Lecturer in Political Theory and Human Rights, School of Public Policy, UCL
- Dr George Letsas, Lecturer in Laws, Faculty of Laws, UCL
- Tom Hickman, constitutional law and human rights lawyer, Blackstones Chambers
This event has been organised in the run-up to the Convention on Modern Liberty, due to take place on 28th February 2009. Be there!
